Matty yawned and lifted his head. It was morning and time for him to wake up. School was in less than an hour and he knew he must rush. Matty's bed was not made, he had not brushed his teeth, and he scurried to the bathroom. He then took his backpack, hopped on his scooter, and zoomed off. School wasn't that far away and Matty loved riding his scooter to school every day. It was Friday and he enjoyed his weekend time with his family. Every weekend held a new adventure for Matty, and he loved the trips to the movies, the park, the zoo, and trying out new restaurants.
Good Morning Matty! by Christopher Davis, Jr. beautifully captures the routine of a school-going boy and his weekend excitement. The illustrations by Faiza Farooq give life to the characters and the concept, making it more enjoyable for readers. Matty's routine is relatable to almost all school-going kids and will help them relive their daily routine and weekends with the family. It is a charming book for parents and grandparents to read out to their kids and grandkids and gift to them. Tutors and educators will find the book helpful to conduct interactive sessions in classrooms by asking each student to speak about their daily routine and weekend moments with their family. The story is all about love, family bonding, and happiness and it is infectious. I think it will be a good idea for all of us to jot down our daily routine and weekends spent with family, just how Matty has done.
