Hungry Frog and Clever Butterfly by Silvia Marsz is an entertaining story for kids. In the mud under a leaf lived a frog who had become mean because he was hungry. He kept waiting for a juicy butterfly or a fly, but he could not get one. He became hungrier and weaker and sadder. One day a butterfly came by, but the frog could not catch it. The butterfly came back after two days again to check if the frog was still its enemy. In the meantime, the frog goes to his neighbor, Mr Spider, and gets a good web of silk to catch the butterfly. Mr Bee also gives him the best of honey to catch the butterfly. Will the frog succeed in catching the butterfly?
The story is adorable and the bright and colorful pictures of the landscape make it captivating to kids. It's a good bedtime storybook and can also be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Both the butterfly and the frog are appealing and the author makes them stand out in the story with their own individuality and personality. The book is rich in color and scenery and is very attractive to child readers. The mean frog and the smart butterfly connect well with readers and will remain in their hearts for a long time. Mr Spider and Mr Bee are also memorable with their ideas of helping the frog to catch the butterfly.
