In Ivy Spilled Milk by Mr. Sun, we are introduced to a little girl named Ivy and her mom. It all starts with an accident in which her cup of milk was spilled. This made Ivy sad because not only was her milk on the floor and needed to be cleaned up, but now she didn’t have anything to drink. Ivy’s mother sees this and tells her it’s okay. Her mother also tells Ivy that crying won’t help and that when a problem arises, then a solution needs to be found. Ivy hadn’t thought of it like this. She just figured that crying would get her mother to clean up the mess and get her another cup of milk. Her mother instructs her to fetch some towels and clean up the mess. This begins a lesson where Ivy starts to learn how to solve problems with the help of her mom.
Ivy Spilled Milk is a wonderful read. It’s a good book for children learning to be more self-reliant and introduces them to basic problem-solving. I think it would be an acceptable story for both school and at home. Whether it’s read at bedtime or during a school day, I can see it becoming a great tool for parents and teachers alike. It’s always great when you find a book to help teach your children the basics. The illustrations are also beautiful and go perfectly with the storyline. The bright colors of the images will draw the child reader in and make it easy to read to them, or for them to read it themselves. Mr. Sun has done a brilliant job and I can’t wait to read more of his work.
