Deanna King's Lethal Liaisons plunges readers into the gritty and suspenseful world of Houston Homicide Detective Jack West. This thrilling novel kicks off with a fresh murder case that quickly escalates when similarities arise between multiple victims. As Jack and his fellow detectives, Chang and Severson, dig deeper, they uncover disturbing evidence suggesting a serial killer is on the loose in Houston. With victims seemingly having nothing in common, the team races against time to connect the dots before the body count rises. King masterfully crafts a tense atmosphere, keeping the reader on edge as Jack and his team navigate the complexities of this harrowing investigation. The diverse nature of the victims adds another layer of mystery, making it difficult to predict the killer’s next move, which adds to the suspense and keeps the story unpredictable.
Deanna King’s writing in Lethal Liaisons is amazing. The plot is tight, with enough surprises to keep you hooked all the way through. I love how she paces the story—there’s never a dull moment, but she also takes the time to really develop the characters, especially Jack. He’s such a strong and determined character, and you start rooting for him. The action scenes are intense but balanced with great dialogue, so it feels real. Plus, the themes of justice and the darker sides of human nature add a lot of depth. The way King brings Houston to life makes you feel like you’re right there with Jack and his team. If you’re into thrillers, this one is definitely worth your time. I’m already excited to read more Jack West novels from Deanna King!
