Little Harvey’s Big Feelings by Sarah Kiss tells the story of a little boy named Harvey, who has a day filled with big emotions. He starts his morning feeling happy and energized, but gets frustrated along the way. When he doesn't get the breakfast he wanted, then his train set gets ruined, and finally, he isn't able to visit the park like he planned because it's raining, he becomes sad and angry. His emotions ultimately reach a turning point, and poor little Harvey can't take it anymore. He begins to cry, shout, and kick when his emotions overwhelm him. His mother stays calm, listens as Harvey voices his concerns, and offers him comfort. She tells Harvey that having big feelings (good and bad) is valid. She also reminds Harvey he is safe and will always be loved. In the end, will he learn to manage his feelings after such an emotional day?

Little Harvey's Big Feelings by Sarah Kiss is an educational children's book that helps both children and adults understand that emotions are a natural part of life. It teaches all readers that big emotions aren’t something to fear or hide but acknowledge and safely express. The author uses simple language and relatable moments to show how easily a child’s mood can shift, helping readers recognize similar patterns in real life. The calm, compassionate response from Harvey’s mother shows what healthy emotional support looks like. Additionally, Hira Sherry's expressive illustrations fit each scene perfectly. I love how the book includes expert insights about stress, balance, and the science behind crying, giving caregivers a practical understanding of how emotions work. I am sure parents and educators will appreciate the information too. This combination of story and education makes the book a valuable addition to any child's storybook collection.
