The writing style keeps it simple and straightforward, which I think is very good considering the topic. I think it will do well as children won’t be confused by overly complicated words and instead can focus on the information given. You can tell this book was well thought out and planned for before the writing, and the colorful illustrations help bring it all to life. My Protest also touches on the important fact that many history books are sometimes altered, removing or changing real events of the past. It ends off by stressing the importance of keeping Black history intact and how people can do this. I thought this book was brilliant, and I hope many children learn the importance of their heritage.

The wording is simple to allow Linda Gaston-Bessellieu, Tawana Bessellieu, and Jaliyah Bessellieu-Webb’s beautiful message to be easily absorbed. I loved the illustrations as they are bright and colorful and will surely capture the attention of any young reader. Please continue to educate children on these important topics.
