Pearl's Life (Pearl Books #2) by Tuula Pere is a book about family. Jacob is a big brother to Pearl, and he loves being exactly that. Jacob doesn’t care that his sister has physical limitations, or that she has to go to the doctor so very often. He wants to be there by her side every day, helping out, even if that only means he can stroke her hair and comfort her. Jacob’s heart is extra big. No matter what comes along, he wants to be the very best big brother in the entire world. This book pulled on my heartstrings. So many times it shows great love and selflessness in ways most adults can only dream about. Time after time he demonstrates kindness when it is needed.

This is the best book about how to be a great sibling to a brother or sister with special needs. We see pure love in its finest form as Jacob goes to great lengths to include Pearl in everything with family and friends. He wants to introduce Pearl to his peers at school, and we see great examples of friendship and acceptance. It doesn’t bother Jacob that Pearl has bad days, or that he doesn’t have money to buy her something on her birthday. He perseveres, finding something that reflects his inner self to give her. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this book. If you have a child with special needs in your family or know someone who does, this book will inspire you. Pearl's Life (Pearl Books #2) by Tuula Pere is most highly recommended.

Pearl's Life is the second book in the Pearl Book series by Tuula Pere. Jacob's parents finally brought his little sister Pearl home. However, Pearl is a special child. She is disabled, and Jacob and his parents will have to help her every day. Jacob is ready to be a big brother. He is also starting school. He tells his grandma that he wants to take Pearl to the schoolyard. After a talk with his dad, Jacob's parents take Pearl in the baby stroller to the schoolyard, where Jacob introduces his little sister to his friends from his old playgroup, Anna and Sofia. Jacob soon learns to help his parents take care of Pearl. He has a calming presence on Pearl and often sings her to sleep. He also makes sure Pearl attends his school's ceremonies.

A continuation of Jacob's story from Welcome Home, Pearl, this is a feel-good picture book that fills you with hope. Pearl's Life by Tuula Pere makes you feel grateful for the loved ones in your life and beautifully shows how a loving family supports and cares for each other, especially the ones most in need of it. There is so much to love about Jacob, who I'm sure young readers will instantly connect with. He is young but understands what his little sister is going through and does everything he can to ensure she is happy and a big part of his everyday life. Catty Flores' illustrations bring the characters to life on the pages. Jacob and Pearl's sibling dynamic feels very genuine and moving. If you want to read a short story about a warm and loving family, this is the book for you.

Jacob has a new baby sister. He’s excited when she’s brought home and anxious to help all he can. Having a new member of the family is always a challenge, but when this new member requires extra attention, it can be even more difficult. In Tuula Pere's Pearl’s Life, Pearl is a special needs baby. For one thing, she has to be tube-fed, which means when Jacob wants to share his special ice cream cone, he isn’t sure if she’ll enjoy it, let alone be able to swallow it. Jacob is starting school and he wants his entire family, including his baby sister, to walk him to school. His parents aren’t too sure if it’s a good idea. They fear Jacob may face bullying from other children who don’t understand. Jacob is up for the challenge. He is a happy, proud big brother. “I don’t mind if some kids don’t understand what Pearl is like. I can explain it to them.”

Tuula Peres’ picture book, Pearl’s Life, is the second in the Pearl Books series. This delightful story addresses the difficult topic of special needs children: caring for them and welcoming them not just into the family, but also into the entire community. Told in simple language so young readers can easily follow along, the author uses lots of dialogue to develop the characters and allow the plot to move forward. The illustrations by Catty Flores are abstract and engaging and add another dimension to the story. This is a great discussion piece that will allow young readers to talk about special needs, especially if there’s a special needs child in their family or their community. Charming, sweet, and educational.

Tuula Pere's Pearl's Life (Pearl Books #2) is the story of Jacob, Pearl, and their parents, who are a wonderful family. Since Pearl's birth, everyone has had to adjust to her sudden sickness. Jacob, being the youngest, may be expected to have the most problems with this predicament, yet he has been nothing but a champ. Taking care of his sister is not an easy responsibility, but Jacob is always up for the challenge and strives to help her in every way he can. He also faces each hurdle with incredible fortitude and a positive attitude, from insisting on taking her to his big events to doing his best to calm her. Grab this book and discover a wonderful story of selflessness and bravery.

Pearl's Life (Pearl Books #2) tells the story of Jacob, a young boy who lives with and helps take care of his newborn unwell sister, Pearl. I liked the ease with which the difficulties of living with a "not normal" child are presented via Jacob's perspective. It's not easy dealing with strangers' criticism or arranging large events to disrupt them as little as possible, and Tuula Pere does an excellent job of conveying that. I particularly appreciated the realistic touch in Catty Flores' paintings, since it is unusual to see a nasal cannula in a children's book, and it is fantastic to see a diverse portrayal of reality. I highly recommend this book to every parent who tries to explain tough topics to their children and wants to read a heartwarming picture book.

Pearl's Life (Pearl Books #2) by Tuula Pere is an amazing children's story about social issues. Pearl is coming home from the hospital, and Jacob can't wait. Although she is seriously ill, the whole family knows they will do their very best for her. Looking after Pearl is not easy, but Jacob puts his heart and soul into loving and caring for her, and it turns out that no one can soothe her as he can. When it comes time for Jacob to go to school, he insists that Pearl should come too. Jacob is so proud of his sister that he wants to show her off to everyone. Summer is coming, and the whole family is ready to enjoy all it brings.

Pearl's Life by Tuula Pere is the second book in the Pearl series and is illustrated once again by the talented Catty Flores. The story touches on the issues that surround a seriously ill child and all the different care needed. This is a heartwarming story about a wonderful little boy who is proud of his baby sister and is even prepared to put up with bullying from school because no one has seen a child quite like Pearl before. Luckily, he doesn't have to, as he proves to be a wonderful teacher for all the other kids who love Pearl. This story illustrates that having a child with a serious illness is not always the problem for the other kids in the family that parents think it might be. Kids are resilient and far more understanding than we give them credit for sometimes, and the story perfectly shows this. Another amazing story from Tuula. I am looking forward to reading more.
