Princess Avalon dreams of building her own castle, but she’s sad because she thinks the project is too much for her to take on. In Christine McQuillan’s Princess Avalon Dreams Big, her friends, Swan, Pony, Dragon, and others, pitch in to help. Soon, she has a castle even bigger than she dreamed possible. There is even a stone path leading from her favorite pond. What more could she ask for? Her dream had come true, and she had her friends to thank for their support, encouragement, and help.

Christine McQuillan’s picture book, Princess Avalon Dreams Big, is 'A Simple Princess Story to Inspire Little Ones to Achieve Big Things!' The author uses simple language with few words on each page to help and encourage young readers to improve their reading skills. The plot follows the young princess as she dreams big and, with the help of her friends, works to achieve her dream. The illustrations by Emem A. Essien are superb: bright, bold, colorful, and they certainly help enhance the plot development. At the end of the book, there is a keepsake page where young readers can share their dreams, how they can achieve their goal, who they could ask for help, and where they should begin. The author also includes a note to parents to help them direct their child to achieve their dreams, no matter how big. This is a great way to encourage young readers, especially girls, to dream big and work hard to achieve their dreams. The story also promotes the themes of friendship, camaraderie, and working together.
