In Sinful Father by Andrew Allen Smith, the second book in the Masterson Files series, someone from General Sam Tarkington’s past is out for revenge. Despised by many who were victims of his ruthless nature in the past, Tarkington’s team is unsure where to begin when a bomb goes off in the General’s office. The threat of revenge also includes the General’s daughter, Abby, and her lover, Jonathon Michael Masterson, who has crossed paths with Tarkington in the past. The General’s team springs into action, not knowing where the avenger will strike next. First, they have to protect Michael and Abby, then trace the perpetrator. They learn soon enough that Michael has not lost his past skills and they could learn a thing or two from him.

The characters in Sinful Father by Andrew Allen Smith feel real from the conversations they have with each other. They are focused on their mission yet the dialogues they have reveal a more intimate relationship between them. Tarkington is imperfect in many ways but his concern towards his team is apparent. On the other hand, Michael’s distant and sometimes egotistical nature is balanced by his love and loyalty to Abby. The work contains many twists involving new or existing characters. New details are revealed along the way and the team also experiences loss in some situations. The action scenes in the book are punctuated by riveting violence and disturbing threats. For lovers of action novels, Sinful Father will be gripping with its dialogues and eccentric characters.
