Something Borrowed by Luis Ammerman takes the reader on a journey of reconnection with a love and a life that disappeared for a time when paths divided and each person went their own way, looking for love, companionship, and ever after, but in the wrong places. Becky and Matthew, the main characters, grew up together, but when they went to college, university life stepped in and threw them a curveball, and they parted ways. Both these characters have been hurt by life, people, and each other, and now need to find a way back to each other. The quotes at the beginning of each chapter are inspirational in themselves and give wonderful insight into both main characters.
Something Borrowed by Luis Ammerman takes a cousin's wedding, an antique veil, a bridal business, and the fact that both Becky and Matthew will be at the wedding to tell a story. Becky is planning and helping to arrange it, and Matthew is a guest. The author uses the main characters most charmingly and realistically, leading up to the final day and the outcome that is expected. But when it happens, it is almost as if the world sighs in relief. The author has written a beautiful novella that brings a smile to the reader's face. It lets them reflect on incidents that have happened in their own lives, and they can relate to Becky and Matthew, Dani and Alex. The author shows that life is not plain sailing; there are going to be ups and downs, but how you handle them makes all the difference. It is a fast but poignant read that will bring many memories to the reader's mind with a smile. This is a delightful story well worth reading. I smiled, laughed, and cried with the characters. I enjoyed it immensely.
