"Songeez: Original Music from Readezz" is a collection of music from the Readezz Volume One and Two DVDs, which use music to words that tells a short story of exploration for children as young as 18 months of age through elementary school. The music is catchy, upbeat and always has a learning idea with each song. For example, the song Sandy Beach uses music to the words of things to do at the beach, and things that live at the beach.
This collection has songs that focus on phonics, numbers and shapes. Michael Rachap uses the characters Julian and Isabel Waters, a father and daughter, to sing the songs. Their relationship is expressed as very kind and loving.
I enjoyed listening to the songs in this collection. I think the concept is precisely for the genre of toddlers through early elementary grade levels and is very appropriate. I think some of the songs are a bit of a challenge for the toddlers; however, with the upbeat tempo of the music the Toddler can move to the music which can be of importance. I would recommend this CD to day care centers and early learning centers to introduce the young child to listen and dance to the music. I began to move to the music and sing along, because the lyrics reminded me of some of the songs I had heard before when I was a Teacher of young children. I think this collection is a good start for the young child.
