Pria Dee shows children ways they can stay fit in her book, Sport It! Young dinosaurs of all sizes walk, jog, and move into yoga positions while readers voice the lyrical phrases. The dinosaurs play hockey, football, tennis, and other sports while smiling and interacting with one another. The words encourage fitness and health in different forms and show light, moderate, and heavy forms of exercise. From playground games to more organized activities, the narrative encourages and supports cardiovascular and weight training workouts. Even the dinosaurs with disabilities participate in the activities.
Sometimes, children need encouragement to get up and move, even if it's just to take a walk around the block with their family. Pria Dee presents a book with phrases that urge children to incorporate more exercise into their days by doing yoga poses or participating in a team sport. The charming illustrations by David Lock show dinosaurs playing together and doing activities on their own, and the whimsical pictures will delight young readers. Dinosaurs are appealing, and many readers will see their favorite dinosaur and want to do the same exercise. The catchy phrases beg to be read aloud, and children can discuss their favorite exercise or see others they may want to try. Pria Dee includes disabled dinosaurs, making her book more inclusive. The pages positively promote good sportsmanship as the dinosaurs who play together are conscientious in their interactions. Caregivers who hope to nudge their children into a more active lifestyle will enjoy sharing Sport It! with them.
