Tailor and Mischievous Mouse by Preeti Gulati is a children’s picture book in translation, hailing back to a classic favorite in Hindi. The story starts with a mischievous mouse resorting to trouble to get what he wants. From a shiny little hat to a charming pair of boots to go with it, he will do anything naughty to get hold of things because he has a whole kingdom to impress. How else would he be king without the right look? This story will take you on a wicked adventure with a mouse full of mischief.
Tailor and Mischievous Mouse is an excellent adaptation by Preeti Gulati. I adored the rhymes; they are eye-catching and will keep young readers in tune with the storyline. I also loved how the story teaches youngsters a valuable life lesson; at the end of the day, greed will get you nowhere. It includes aspects of bullying, showing awareness that being unkind to another, whether a person or an animal, will only bring you misery. Despite the story being in rhyme, the language is straightforward, making it easy to understand. Last, the illustrations are wonderfully done, being both playful and eye-catching at the same time. Not only is this a fun book to read, but it also has important life lessons that are essential in teaching young readers life lessons.
