The Ebola Flight by Shirley Bourrage is a story of terror. Flight 1313 is leaving for America. The last man on the fight does not look well. A group of students who have spent time helping in Africa are on board the flight. The daughter of the Chief Diplomat of France is also on board. At 35000 feet, things begin to go horribly wrong. People are dying, other are coughing up blood as the Ebola virus mutates into an airborne virus, a fast acting virus that is wreaking havoc amongst the crew and passengers. Is this how the Ebola virus is meant to react or is there more to this than meets the eye?
The Ebola Flight by Shirley Bourrage is an interesting read. It is very close to what is happening in the world right now as the worst Ebola outbreak in history rampages on, and it is very scary in that what happens in the book is a very real possibility. It was full of action, right from the word go, and ran at a very fast pace. I would imagine that if something like this did happen on a flight then there would be no stopping it. For me the story ended a little too abruptly. There was no explanation of what happened to the flight or to the people on board. Perhaps there is a sequel? Or perhaps it was Ms. Bourrage’s intention to leave that to our imagination, to draw our own conclusions. The story was good though and, although it was only a short book, the character development was spot on.
