The Falling of Love by Marisa Oldham follows the lives of seventeen-year-olds Grace Hathaway and Ian Taylor as they meet, fall in love, and face difficulties that life throws at them. Grace is instantly attracted to rebellious-looking Ian when he walks into her math class. Grace comes from a loving home with her siblings while Ian has a troubled home life that he feels he needs to escape from. Even though they come from different worlds, they soon fall for each other and start a very sweet, romantic relationship. Eventually, obstacles threaten to tear them apart. Lies are told and hearts are broken. Will Grace and Ian’s relationship be strong enough to get past anything?
I absolutely loved this book. The budding relationship between Grace and Ian is so realistic. It will remind readers of their first love and how hard you can really fall for someone. I fell in love right along with them. And my heart broke right along with them when things got complicated. Only a great writer like Marisa Oldham can make readers feel a variety of emotions, which is exactly what happened with this book. From feeling happy with butterflies in my stomach to angry and wanting to throw the book across the room to heartbroken and wanting to curl up in bed to just cry for an hour, The Falling of Love had me hooked from beginning to end. I will now be completely anxious and impatient until I can read the next book in the series. This series is going to be my new addiction. I can tell.
