The Flower Shop: Caldron of Conspiracy by H. Christopher Quinn is a suspense thriller. Harry used to be a newspaper reporter, but now he is unemployed. He went to Mexico to see the sights and relax and, on his first night in the city, he heads off to dinner with Rosa, after meeting her on a bus. Just his luck, he falls over a body at the restaurant and that’s the start of something sinister. Harry and Rosa find themselves caught up in a Cold War oil company conspiracy and fighting to survive. Harry is offered three different jobs, one of which is to work at the Floreria Roma flower shop where Rosa works. On arriving at the shop, he goes to the back room where he finds that the conspiracy runs far deeper than the oil, a conspiracy that is headed for assassination and meltdown across the globe.

The Flower Shop: Caldron of Conspiracy by H. Christopher Quinn was quite a fun read, full of adventure and full of suspense. The story is set in the Cold War era in Mexico and kept me very much on edge. The mystery unfolded slowly, keeping me guessing as to who the villains were! There is also a great deal of history in this book, both Spanish and Mexican, and it shows that Mr. Quinn has done a great deal of groundwork in writing the plot. It’s definitely a well-written story with well-developed characters and a very enjoyable read from someone who is clearly very talented and an author to watch out for.

The Flower Shop: Caldron of Conspiracy is a thriller novel by H. Christopher Quinn. When a beautiful blonde named Rosa sits down next to vacationing reporter Harry, his long journey to Mexico City gets a whole lot more interesting. Harry is an average guy, save for his living-on-his-nerves journalist attitude, and it’s just that kind of cautious curiosity that gets him into trouble. Rosa’s boss runs the Floreria Roma, a simple flower shop from the outside, but in its back room, and at the time of the burgeoning Cold War, the fate of the whole world is being decided. Harry is about to stumble right into those plans, and find strength and ingenuity he didn’t know he had in order to stop them.

H. Christopher Quinn has an absolutely delightful way of turning the ordinary into something so plausibly extreme and action-packed. Some everyman-turned-hero books are a little unrealistic, but Harry stays true to himself throughout his adventures in The Flower Shop, using his mind as his greatest weapon. The authentic descriptions of the settings in Mexico are so well produced that it makes the reader feel they’re really there. Even Rosa transcends her role as the token beauty of the tale, developing a story of her own and becoming a fully formed character just as important as her male counterparts. The Flower Shop: Caldron of Conspiracy is a vivid adventure with plenty of intrigue, compassionate characters, and a backdrop of real history to add to its authentic feel.

Harry, an American newspaper reporter, comes to Mexico with a great vacation in mind; sightseeing, golf, fishing and the beach. Meeting the beautiful Rosa, a blue-eyed, blonde Mexican girl, is certainly a plus. However, Harry’s dream vacation turns dangerous when he and Rosa get caught in the middle of a complex conspiracy that involves taking over government oil control, sabotage, assassination and even catastrophic global disorder. Harry and Rosa investigate, getting more clues about the conspiracy and trying to find ways to stop it. Will they succeed? The Flower Shop: Caldron of Conspiracy is a mystery thriller by H. Christopher Quinn.

Quinn excellently keeps the reader on edge and guessing with an unpredictable plot that steadily unfolds its mystery. Quinn also manages to weave all the characters into a credible and engaging story line. Although straightforward, there is a perceptive quality about the writing that enhances the story as a whole. I would prefer some parts of the story to be a tad faster in pace, but the story line as well as the chemistry between Harry and Rosa kept me occupied. Quinn also depicts Mexico wonderfully. It is easy to vividly picture the surroundings in my mind. On the whole, The Flower Shop is an enjoyable mystery adventure from start to finish. Its scope is considerably wider than that of many 'who is who' and 'who did what' reads. Regardless of its serious tone, it maintains some humor that I always greatly appreciate in a story. A great read indeed.

The Flower Shop, Caldron of Conspiracy by H. Christopher Quinn is a story of adventure, travel, mystery, and action. The story starts with Harry who is an American journalist and reporter, and currently unemployed. He decides to go to Mexico on vacation to just surf, relax, and enjoy the beach. While there, Harry meets Rosa, a young Mexican girl, and they hit it off. Then, things start happening when Harry finds a dead body and realize that things are more serious and deadly than he first imagined. Soon Rosa’s boss named Pedro, who is the owner of the flower shop where she works, is involved as well. What follows next is a fast-paced thriller that involves conspiracy and intrigue as the main characters navigate and struggle with what sometimes feels like a fight for their very lives.

The Flower Shop, Caldron of Conspiracy by H. Christopher Quinn is written in a quick, engaging manner and the plot moves fairly quickly. All of the characters are well-drawn and the web of mystery and conspiracy is woven superbly throughout the book. This is a good book for anyone that enjoys thrillers or mysteries and is certainly a page-turner. I also liked the element of travel and culture in this book as Harry travels to Mexico where it all begins. All in all, The Flower Shop, Caldron of Conspiracy by H. Christopher Quinn is a well-rounded action-packed thriller to take along for a read on the beach or while traveling. I read the book mostly in one go and found it to be entertaining. I would recommend it.

H. Christopher Quinn writes an interesting adventure in The Flower Shop, Caldron of Conspiracy. Harry Banister, an out-of-work newspaper reporter, heads south of the border, looking for a some fun and relaxation in Mexico City. Taking the bus to save some money, Harry shares his seat with Rosa. Harry is immediately smitten with her beauty and sentimentality, and her passion for flowers. Rosa agrees to show Harry the sights of her beloved Mexico. Mexico City is a lively place; good food, stimulating nightlife, and rich in tradition and history. However, what Harry discovers there leaves little time for vacationing. Fires, explosions and dead bodies keep turning up wherever he goes - it seems Rosa attracts trouble. Harry finds himself caught in a web of international intrigue. Before he knows it, he is on special assignment for the United Press. While Rosa stops to smell the flowers, Harry smells a story. Who’s behind the fires, and who is doing all the killing? “No one seems to know anything for certain, but everyone seems to have an opinion.”

Christopher Quinn writes a mysterious crime novel in The Flower Shop, Caldron of Conspiracy. Quinn sets the stage by focusing on the Mexican culture and history; however, the time era was vague. As a reader, it would have been beneficial to know the time setting from the beginning, instead of figuring it out as the narrative progressed. In keeping with the main character, the writing style was a bit journalistic. The story poses many questions, yet not all are answered. This technique, although frustrating, adds to the mystery. Steadily paced, the narrative climbs to the apex of the action. The characterization was good, but it took a while for them to develop, thus hindering the action. Weaving a tangled web of intrigue, the characters are kept moving from place to place. The plot has many twists and turns, broadening the scope of the web. Ultimately, like the spider, the protagonist catches his prey, and the unraveling of the story begins. With one last twist, the denouement comes quickly, lending to a satisfying conclusion.
