In The Gun-Shark and the Town Tamer by Joe Corso, Brazos Kane, authorized by the Governor to recover stolen bank money, tracks down two of the three robbers to Opportunity. In Hotspur, Brazos confronts suspects Clem Parker and another, raising suspicions of hidden motives. A coordinated effort by Brazos and the sheriff foils a bank robbery, resulting in a deputy offer that Brazos declines, opting to join Clay Hooper in taming a turbulent Kansas town. They take on a job in Potential to rid the town of troublemakers, impressing its leaders while attracting the attention of Debbie. Brazos balances threats against a commitment to law and order, and multiple high-stake situations earn Brazos a reputation as the "Last Gun-Shark."
I love a good story of the Old West, and there's nothing better than reading the line “I’m your huckleberry" to seal the deal. The Gun-Shark and the Town Tamer by Joe Corso is a classic Western with enough twists to keep it feeling fresh, and the gun-shark Brazos alongside the town tamer Clay make for a great pairing. There are plenty of gunfights, saloons, and even a little romance that round out a main plot and a series of subplots, and there is no shortage of danger with rescues from outlaws, hidden treasures, and confrontations in Brazos' role as town marshal in Kansas City. The writing is tight, and the pace moves forward comfortably. Overall, this is an excellent read, and I have no doubt others who pick it up will feel the same way. Recommended.
