In the newest book by author Suzanne Jenkins, The Liberation of Ravenna Morton, we are introduced to the titular Ravenna. A woman of Native American descent, she lives simply and quite like her ancestors before her. When the child of a child she had placed for adoption comes looking for her, searching for roots and answers, Ravenna is met with some tough questions from her family members, soul-searching of her own, and a lot to think about. When the secrets of her past are revealed to both her loved ones and the residents of her small town alike, it's time for Ravenna to come to terms with her past, once and for all.

I so enjoyed The Liberation of Ravenna Morton. Author Suzanne Jenkins has done a wonderful job of creating characters that the reader will truly care about, and will think of long after they have finished the book. If that isn't the hallmark of a wonderful writer, I'm not sure what is. Her descriptive language skills are second to none, and there were times I felt as if I were in Ravenna's small home with her, living her simple but lovely life. This book had me turning the pages until I reached the very end. I cared so much for Ravenna and her family that I just had to find out what happened to them. Any reader who enjoys a great work of fiction with a strong and interesting female protagonist will love this book. I am so pleased to highly recommend The Liberation of Ravenna Morton, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing what author Suzanne Jenkins has in store for her readers next!
