When Nick and Anita inherit Belton Manor after the passing of one of his family members, it seems like the perfect opportunity to move to the countryside and take up the project of fixing the dilapidated manor. All seems great until Anita eventually finds Nick's aunt's diary hidden in a drawer in one of the bedrooms, and Anita realizes that her death may not have been what it seems. The more time Anita spends in Belton Manor, the more she is convinced that she is hearing voices and seeing shadows throughout the house. The manor has an interesting and terrifying history, and Anita is sure that there is something wrong with the house. Something deadly. The Madness by Helen Tracy Pryke is a thrilling short story that is fast-paced and exciting!

I absolutely loved this short story and wanted to read more. The Madness was such an intense and terrifying story that kept me on my toes the entire time I was reading. I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic between Nick and Anita as an almost newlywed couple, and the development of their personalities was solid. The plot was exciting with every new page, and I was shocked to see the story end so soon. I was super impressed with how thorough the story was in only a few pages. Helen Tracy Pryke wrote such a thrilling piece. I want to read more about this. I would highly recommend The Madnessto anyone who is looking for a quick but intense thriller/horror novel.
