The Skeletons of Birkbury by Diane J. Febry is a classic whodunit. A storm fells a tree, unearthing a skeleton. Forensics and investigation determine the body has lain there for 20 years. At the time, a car accident and a disappearance are not tied together but, following the discovery of the body, two more car accidents occur and another girl disappears. Police investigations take in the surrounding area and more than one person could be responsible. The big question is – who really did it and why? Can the police act fast enough to stop another girl from needlessly dying?

The Skeletons of Birkbury by Diane J. Febry is set in the Cotswolds in England and I must admit it made a change to read an English whodunit instead of an American one. It was a very fast-paced book, no room for taking a breath here. In addition, it was one of the few books where it really wasn’t obvious who the culprit was. There were so many “obvious” people that it could have been any one of them. However, it all became clear the further into the book I got and the ending was, I have to say, very neat. It wasn’t a gritty thriller; it was a nice, neat, classic whodunit that was well worth the read. Very good storyline, loved the characters and Ms Febry has clearly given this a whole lot of thought before putting pen to paper. I would like to read more from her.
