The Solid by Bruce Eagan is an action-packed Christian fiction novel. Chris Caldwell is a lawyer on the right track to becoming a partner in his firm. He is handsome, and he knows how to work it in his favor with women. His new case is exactly what he needs to make it big. However, on the day of the verdict, he wakes up to find the woman his client killed standing at his bedside and demanding justice. She and other victims taunt him and scare him out of his mind. So, Chris does what any sane person will do; he prays to God that if he wins the case, he will return the favor to God. He didn’t think much about it until an angel named Kincaid comes to get Chris to defend Jesus. If Chris fails, everything Jesus did for humankind will be lost forever. Chris needs to win this case, no matter what. But can he win? Can he defend an innocent man who did everything for his people?
The Solid by Bruce Eagan is such a unique approach to religious fiction, and I must admit, I liked this a lot. We have a solid story based on a very original plot that makes the reading experience exceptional. I love how Chris is the quintessential arrogant lawyer who has his work cut out for him by the supernatural. This was his chance for salvation, but he has no idea. I love how genuine his responses are, how valid his arguments are, and how he is a well-developed character. I love his sarcasm and arrogance (sounds strange, but it is the truth). His attitude and the way he lives his life feel very genuine, which is why the change in his personality seems so profound. It is so ironic that a man like him fights for Jesus against all the odds. This is a must-read novel for anyone who enjoys a good story! I will not be surprised if this gets adapted into a movie.
