Everyone looks different and behaves differently too. It’s what makes us unique as individuals. That is what Sarah Curry Rathel shares in her children’s book called There’s Something Different About My Hair. This fun story does not have an action or drama setting like other books. It is nicely narrated by a cute little girl who explains why people have different types of hair. Some persons prefer to wear their hair long, others want it short. Your hair may be red and another person’s will be brown. Some persons who are sick do not even have any hair at all. But that does not prevent them from having fun dressing up. They still love to wear fancy hats and other hair accessories, just like their friends who have lots of hair.

Sarah Curry Rathel wrote a remarkable book which addresses a topic that many will find thought provoking. It is not what you have, but it is who you are that matters. There’s Something Different About My Hair was creatively written with fun rhyming narration. I was also impressed with the magnificently sketched illustrations displaying adorable looking characters who had varying hair lengths of assorted shades. The book only contains thirteen pages, but the author wrote very effectively so that she succeeded in carrying her message across in this delightful story. It should be noted that a percentage of the book sales will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati. A great book for young children.
