Tiny Gateways is a collection of short fantasy/sci-fi stories by Theresa Halvorsen. The book begins with the story "Riding the "L"", where a woman named Lucy desperately wants to cling on to an odd, fantastical western world as a crime-solving detective. "Candles, Pennies, Dandelions, and Wishes" follows a group of people finding themselves in their favorite mythical stories. Now, they must make sure not to interfere in events that may have catastrophic consequences. In "A Way Out," Jane, Michael, and Yvonne find themselves trapped in a haunted, decrepit nursery, only to realize that their situation may not be what they think it is. An interstellar carrier crew of a traveling troupe gets stuck in the village of a decaying planet, faced with a moral dilemma in "Cigars and Critters."
What happens if you find yourself transported to your favorite fantasies or your perceived ideal worlds? Would you ever want to get back to your seemingly mundane life? This is the question at the heart of these short stories by Theresa Halvorsen. Tiny Gateways is a collection of six short stories that blend fantasy and sci-fi elements to put people in situations out of their comfort zones. Despite the similarities in premise, each tale brings something unique to the narrative that delves into the various aspects of humanity. Full of mystery and intrigue, Halvorsen's stories explore the psyche of human beings when faced with overwhelming challenges. Every character deals differently with the circumstances they find themselves in, displaying distinct personalities. If you savor fantasy or sci-fi, don't miss this one out.
