Author Biography

As a author I enjoy writing picture books that are inspiring with charming carachters and great illustrations. Stories always has the potential to be relateble and make a great addition to some reflective downtime in todays busy society. They can serve as a opportunity for deeper conversations about emotions, or just be enjoyed on their own merit. It really is up to the readers themselves and their own preferences.

Trouble at the Monster Zoo was written during the lockdown period when the need for adventure and travelling was all put on hold.
The insperation for the story was the realisation how much great friendships and the ability to believe in our dreams matter, often even more when the times are tough.

Trouble at the Monster Zoo by Kristina Rowlands is an amusing and adventurous picture book for young children. Follow Felix the fossil monster and his best friend Gasper as they embark on an adventure to find Monster Meadow, a magical place that is said not to exist anymore. The two of them plan their escape from the Monster Zoo, and with the help of their friend Freya and their monster abilities, the two of them make it out unnoticed - for now at least. Along the way, they make some new friends and find themselves in tricky situations that they must wriggle out of. Will it all be worth it in the end and will Felix and Gasper find the special place that is Monster Meadow? Find out in this thrilling book.

Trouble at the Monster Zoo was enjoyable to read. From the very first page, you are sucked into the monster world and the magical story. You are immediately introduced to the main characters and learn about each of their special abilities. I was impressed by the author's imagination and my favorite was the fossil monster! Not only is this an entertaining book, but it is also educational as it teaches the importance of how having good friends can make you feel invincible. No dream is too big when you are surrounded by positive people who thrive on lifting you up and making your dreams come true. I loved reading this book and I know children will too! Keep up the good work, Kristina Rowlands. I wonder if the monsters have more adventures to go on in the future? I sure hope so!
