Two Roads by Kirby Roy III is a romantic story with Hurricane Katrina as the backdrop. Byron and Kaya are coming to terms with their loss after the hurricane. As the waters slowly recede after the destruction, Kaya and Byron find themselves getting closer to each other. Kaya Bolden and Byron Wolfox are two characters whom the author has brought back from his previous book, Stormy Weather Friends.
It is a beautiful and gentle love story. The backdrop of the hurricane is kind of symbolic of the storm brewing in the minds of the main characters, Byron and Kaya. And it also shows us that although the storm outside has receded, it is still active in the hearts of these two lovers. These characters have been etched so beautifully by the author that you begin to feel that they are part of your life.
The chemistry between Kaya and Byron is masterfully expressed by the author without making it sound too cliched. The book carries a message that we all have choices in life which can actually shape our destiny, and how Byron and Kaya decide to take the road less traveled. Love stories are always difficult to write because of the problem of sounding cliched. The author has managed to write a very gentle and intense love story here with a beautiful ending that intensifies the spiritual part of the story.
