Unattended Heart by Quen Benoit is the story of Pamela who feels that nobody listens to her and she is a stranger in her own home. She feels like walking away from her home. She is always looking for answers regarding her life. The book is a reflection of many problematic teenage children who are rude and do not respect their parents. Many parents of teenagers can relate to the language used by Pamela and her behavior.

The story is short and I felt it ended too fast. Pamela's character is that of a problematic teen. Many of us might have met teens like her. I felt the author has gone a little overboard with the portrayal of Pamela or she might have been an extreme case of a problematic teenager. The writing is simple except for the language used by Pamela, which is very infuriating at times. That can be looked at as the author's expertise in narration because she managed to portray Pamela as a problem child very well. The story is endearing and I enjoyed it.

The book targets teens and they will enjoy it more than other reader group. It is a reflection of their peers and the kind of language they use, and the rebel phase some of them go through while growing up. Will Pamela grow up and change for the better? Or will she be unhappy being a victim of her own insecurities?
