Rowan’s Home Psychiatric Institution hides a terrible, old secret in White Walls by HMC. That is where Dr. Jade Thatcher has secured a new position as a psychiatric counselor. She has chosen to move back home to be near her brother and father after many years in the city and an ugly divorce. Jade begins doubting her effectiveness with the patients as she considers the stories her patients are telling her about their pasts and the treatment they receive at the Institution as truth. When a nurse is murdered as she sleeps in a patient’s room, the strange behavior of Dr. Green, head of the program, and a strangely lucid patient, Jade begins to seriously question what is going on. As Jade gets closer to the truth about unsanctioned experiments, she finds herself in tremendous danger - a fire breaks out on the floor and escape doors are locked. Who is pulling the strings on all the people in Rowan’s Home and how far will they go to keep their secret from the world?

Intense psychological manipulation is the key to the action in this amazing story by HMC. White Walls is an exciting story with many levels of action and intrigue. You constantly wonder who is sane and who is not – and even if that is the real question! Jade is a strong woman who takes solving this mystery quite seriously and she takes you along for every hair-raising, breath-holding scene. Great characters and a huge back story make White Walls everything you read a thriller to experience.

White Walls is a thriller by author H.M.C. which takes place in a psychiatric hospital setting. Presiding over the patients of this facility is our heroine, Jade Thatcher, whose recent return to her hometown in Australia is a direct effort to rest and reconstruct her life after a failed marriage. But when rumours of corruption and a peculiar link between all of her patients start to give Jade suspicions, she reluctantly involves herself in a spiralling narrative far more shocking than anything she’s been through before. So begins a tense adventure into the world of mental illness, where Jade discovers that the patients may not be the ones who have a truly twisted view of the world.

I devoured this book in a single afternoon, and I’m certain that any thriller fan will do the same. H.M.C.’s narrative moulds to fit every character that is represented, reflecting the disturbances in their mental state with sharp, precise prose. The world surrounding the action of the novel is punctuated with noise, colour and life, adding to the realism of the read, which makes the building tension of the piece all the more fearful. I particularly felt sympathy for Sam, the woman suffering with personality defects, and the general ensemble of patients in the hospital made it feel as though the author had really done the groundwork on mental health research. Overall, White Walls was a gripping piece of fiction and surprisingly meaty with content for its short length. I would highly recommend it to mystery and thriller fans everywhere.

White Walls by H.M.C has its beginning in a crazy artist, George, and a wayward damsel, Samantha, being made to undergo certain psychiatric treatment at Rowan’s Home Psychiatric Center. Dr Jade, who is presently in charge of the treatment, develops suspicions of what is going on. Her attempts to uncover the secrets that will allow her to finally help her patients to heal take her closer to few of the patients, like Samantha, as well as her father, Dr Karl, a reputed psychiatrist. With help from Dr Karl, Samantha joins others, including Dr Jade, in launching an attempt to uncover the secrets held by Dr Green, the head of the institution. However quite unexpected and intriguing developments take place, leading to a thrilling conclusion.

White Walls by H.M.C has a very good narration and the story flows. The personal compulsions of disturbed people as well as the helplessness others are bound to face while dealing with them are clearly shown. And this is quite notable in the parts played by George, Samantha and Dr Jade. Each and every character has a marked role in the whole plot and that speaks a lot about HMC’s apt handling. More clarity about the professional background of Dr Green and the research institution would have enabled the reader to get closer to the characters. On the whole, a very good read.
