Bionic Bug, written by Natasha Bajema, is a fantastic science fiction mystery set in the near future. Bajema weaves a stunning tale full of suspense and gritty, realistic characters. Her descriptions are beautifully evocative. Lara is a great heroine. She feels very real in her struggles and emotions, and in the mistakes she makes. She’s strong and determined but emotionally vulnerable and struggling, all at once. Refreshingly, the law enforcement characters were smart and competent, and the forensics and police work felt accurate. Even the bad guys had believable motives and were fairly well-rounded. The mystery was incredibly intricate and well-thought-out. The twists and turns and red herrings will keep readers guessing until the very end. For anyone who loves suspense and high-tech thrillers, Bionic Bug is a must-read.
