Author Biography

I write fantasy for teens and adults. I'm an avid reader and enjoy authors such as Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, PC & Kristin Cast, Richelle Mead, LJ Smith, Suzanne Collins, Derek Landy, Obert Skye, and Brandon Mull to name a few. I absolutely love vampires but I enjoy fantasy of all kinds.

I'm addicted to Oreos and White Knight drinks from Perks. When I'm not writing I enjoy traveling, playing board and card games, killing zombies on the Xbox 360 with my hubby, listening to music, playing guitar, going to concerts, and spending time with friends and family.

My favorite color is green and the uglier the shade, the better. I get bored of my hairstyle easily which has resulted in many hair colors in the last ten years. My hair is currently red, but who knows how long that might last.

I live in Southern Utah with my husband and son. Readers can expect more in the genres of Rock Fiction and Paranormal Fantasy from me in the not-so-distant future.

Aurora is a vampire who meets a boy Trey, whilst she is out searching for her next meal and for some reason she can’t bring herself to drink from him. After meeting Aurora, superstar lead singer Trey can’t get her out of his mind. He has even started dreaming about her. As their relationship begins to grow Aurora is forced to hide what she really is from him, as well as hiding their relationship from the other vampires. Aurora must keep her two worlds separate or there may be devastating consequences.

I really enjoyed this book, even more than I thought I would actually. Due to the massive popularity of vampire books, it is very hard to find one that doesn’t seem like one we already read. I enjoyed the fact that it was the female who was the vampire and the male who was human. Whilst this was not the first book I have read that has done that, it was definitely in the minority and therefore refreshing. I believe this book has broad appeal and will be enjoyed by both teens and adults alike and also by fans of different book genres. Whilst this book is a fantasy about vampires, the fantasy element is quite light and the book is actually more dominated by the music. The romance between the two main characters is sweet, clean and engaging. I would recommend this book to fans of fantasy, romance and music based books of all ages. I look forward to seeing what happens next for Trey and Aurora in the second of what seems to be a promising series of books.

Thank you so much for the amazing review, Laura. I appreciate the time you took to read Blood And Guitars and the detailed thoughts you wrote out about your experience with the book. :)

I am in awe with this book. Absolutely love vampire books and rocker books! Aurora and Trey's love is one in a million, but comes with fighting every step of way.
This book is nothing like the other vampire books I have read. Or rocker book. It's not about biting and sex. It's a true love story about two people from two different worlds. I can't wait to finish the next book and see where there story goes :)

Heather Jensen has great potential to become the next 'successful' author! Her blend of a rock band and vampires, and the beginning of the their combined (and complicated) lives in this beginning book of the trilogy (or more), is a story that I highly recommend. It definitely has the witty love appeal for YA and "immortally young" adults alike. I am definitely looking forward to finishing the next book, Immortals and Melodies. For a good, clean read, I highly recommend this book.

Rock and roll, and cool vamps, what's not to love? I only wish it had been longer, with a little warning that the ending would be sooner than I expected. I'm hoping for much more character development in the sequel, glad there is one coming.

Vampwriter

Starting out slowly the closeness between grows even though there are roadblocks at almost every turn. The care and love between the characters was sweet and believable, can't wait to read the next in the series.

This book brings vampires into the 21st century.it's about time ! I really enjoyed this book and I think you will too.eagerly awaiting more from this author !!

Picked up this book as a freebie interested in Rock Star stories. This is a definite twist to the normal rock star
sex craved books out there. The main characters, Trey and Aurora are so likable and so are the rest of the cast. It did remind me
of Twilight at times, but the story ran differently. I found myself lost in the story and couldn't wait to get to the end to find out what was going to happen,
only to be frustrated, not because I wasn't enjoying the book, but I wanted more. The 2nd book is out and I'm reading that one
too!!
It really is a heartwarming, crazy story and I think you would enjoy it. I'm not going into details because I think it ruins the fun of reading the story, but I would recommend picking up the book and reading it, you won't regret it.

Vamp meets boy, Vamp decides she is enjoying his company and doesn't eat boy. Vamp feels alive again when she is with boy. Boy is a rock god who she falls in love with. The other Vamps who desire her she will have nothing to do with until they discover her love for a human and decide to take him out of the equation. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the story did not end. I suspect it was purposely left as a cliffhanger ending.

Obsession Is A Book

First of all I would like to thank Heather for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the YA paranormal romance story of Trey and Aurora. It's not what you're thinking though, Trey is the mere mortal and Aurora is the vampire. Now that is new.

The story flows and the dialogue between the characters is real. This is an easy read about is really just about the development of the relationship between Trey and Aurora.

Trey is a rock god who's lost his mojo thanks to a gold-digging ex. Aurora is a newly turned vampire out for a meal. It is forbidden for a vampire to become romantically involved with a mortal but Aurora just can't keep away and takes a job working with Trey's band just so she can spend more time with him.

I like some of the twists that Heather has put in the book in regards to vampire myth; garlic, sunshine is no problem. There is also the fact that once a vampire has fed from a mortal then the mortal automatically avoids vampire's, which means that Aurora can't feed from Trey.

Although I did enjoy the book I found it a bit slow in parts. I understand the reason behind this but feel there could have been a bit more action in the storyline. It does appear that the action has been saved for book 2 Immortals & Melodies.

I am looking forward to reading book 2.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

so I know you're gunna laugh at me, but with and aversion to the vampers, I sure do seem to read a lot of them! HA! And I almost didn't sign up to read this one because of the vampire aspect but I'm really glad I did. At first, I was thinking the whole vampire loves a human story was done already, BUT I really enjoyed that fact that the vampire is an ARTISTIC WOMAN vampire and a MUSIC GENIUS male human. I think this is my first turning point on a positive note.

My second positive turning point is that vampires aren't like the "typical" vampires in this story. Sunlight is not lethal. The moon cycles control their powers. And it's very selective, you don't just get to be all powerful just because you're a vamper. They do still drink blood but not everyday. Alcohol doesn't do the same things like to humans but they can drink it. Such an interesting way to get some fresh new ways for the vampire world.

My one small disappointment is I expected more from the characters. I'm not saying I didn't like them, on the contrary I really like them. But I think they just fell a little short of my expectations. And I also think part of it is meeting new characters in a new series of a debut. No worries I'm not giving up, I plan on continuing the story with book two and maybe I'll learn something that will change my mind but on a positive side, I should say that I loved when Aurora would paint. I'm not a creative person, so reading from that perspective was a great thing for me. And being that I love music so much, it was very cool to see that side of it. I always love the finished product but I have a new respect for the people who give it to me

I will say that almost anyone who picks up this book will enjoy it. It is just fine for almost any age group and it can be classified in multiple genres. I would put it more in the paranormal romance box. I would also like to say I really really enjoyed the writing style. It's a first person POV and it's pretty fun being in Aurora's mind. I enjoy her rebel without a cause attitude.

So all in all, I enjoyed this as an easy light read. My vote is for you to get your hands on it. 3.5 PAWS!! And I'll be going off to read book two now LOL

Ruby's Review

I am totally in love with vampire books. That being said this book captivated me from the start.

It took me time to get through the book just because of life in general got in my way. I would try to read when I could which was mostly when I should have been asleep and would end up going to bed at least 2 hours late each time I did that. Finally I sat down one day and I told everyone I was busy and wasn't going to do anything else till I finished the book and that's what I did!

As soon as I finished the book and it ended on a cliff hanger I immediately went to see if the next book is out and to my excitement it is out! So I will be buying in after payday to see what happens next.

Trey sounds amazingly sexy and some eye candy I would love to see around. Not only sexy but caring too! I just have this urge to recreate his painting.

This is the best book I have ever read in my life. It has an amazing plot, great characters, and most of all music and vampires. It has all my favorite this put into one and you will not regret getting this book.

Heather Jensen's debut novel, "Blood and Guitars," tells the story of Aurora and Trey--a vampire and a human who risk everything for love.

This modern-day, albeit paranormal, love story begins with a flourish, introducing readers to the tragically beautiful Aurora, while offering a glimpse into the secret world of vampires that she inhabits. The pace slows when Aurora meets Trey, and the lines between their two worlds slowly disappear. This part really showcases Jensen's solid writing and more than passing understanding of songwriting and the music industry. All the while, the reader braces for the repercussions of the main characters' forbidden romance.

And the repercussions do come. In fact, just when Jensen leads you to believe that disaster has been averted ... she lowers the boom.

"Blood and Guitars" is the satisfying first book in a trilogy. I already have book two, so I'll soon have more to share.

I recommend "Blood and Guitars" to YA, NA, and adult paranormal romance fans.

This book managed to grab my attention after only the first couple of chapters. I could tell that it was going to be something different in the world of vampires and I was pretty excited about that. Sometimes it is hard to find something different and unique than what is already out there.

Then to see that this book would be alternating between point of views between Aurora and Trey was just even better. I love it when books do that because it is always nice to be able to tell what both main characters are thinking and feeling about one another.

But then after those first few chapters, something happened. The book seemed to slow down. For quite a few chapters we only got Trey's point of view and it seemed to mainly be about song writing, which, okay, this is a book that does involve a musician so it was somewhat understandable but unfortunately it caused the book to drag a little and I found myself wanting to scan the pages more than actually read them, something that is never a good sign. But, I hung in there in the hopes that it would get better.

I am so glad I stuck with it because it did indeed get better. The romance picked up and the action picked up as well.

I found myself once again being drawn into the storyline and into the lives of the characters.

I really started to feel more for Aurora and Trey and by the time I was done with the story I wanted more of it.

I really look forward to reading the next installment to find out what happens and how everything is handled.

I think this is a promising series that will turn out to be quite addicting.

I give this one 3.5 Stars!

Crystal (Snowdrop)

I found the idea of a vampire artist falling in love with a human rock star kind of new and engaging. Even though it is another story about humans and vampires falling in love, it's nothing like you've ever read before.

The story of Aurora and Trey's romance is achingly sweet. Aurora has never felt more alive than when she is with Trey and his bandmates, letting their easy going attitude rub off on her and letting herself get caught up in what the feeling of new love brings. And Trey has taken a long time to get to a point where he can even entertain the idea of a girlfriend, heartbreak had been his only mistress for so long, until he meets Aurora. They have this magnetic attraction that keeps bringing them together.

The one aspect I loved about this book was that it wasn't just a book about vampires, but it also incorporated music and art. Trey and his band have a huge role in this story and I actually learned a lot about music and the industry. AND painting is another main feature in this story. Aurora is an artist who produces mostly paintings that have the moon and the night as their main theme. There are a lot of scenes involving either the music aspect or the painting aspect and thoroughly enjoyed them. I think that is one of the things that makes this vampire book stand out.

I am looking forward to reading more in this series as I need to find out what happens to Trey and Aurora. The story leaves you hanging in a good way, but I really need to pick up Immortals and Melodies soon.

Cinta Garcia de la Rosa "

I started reading this book thinking that I was going to read one more book about vampires. Fortunately, it is not just one more book about vampires. And luckily the vampires in this book doesn't resemble in the least bit the ones in that other series of books that you all have in mind. It is nice, for a change, to see vampires that can go out during the day and have no problems with eating garlic. The story is very original too, and that's what made me feel like reading it, among other reasons.

When Aurora, a young vampire, goes food hunting one night, she meets Trey, a rock star, and they feel immediately attracted to each other. Follow Aurora and Trey as they try to make their relationship work, taking into account that Aurora must hide from Trey her being a vampire. Once their relationship gets deeper, some dangers will threaten them, so Aurora will have to protect Trey from her vampire world, but at the same time keeping that danger and her secret away from Trey.

The story works quite well, and the plot is original. We get the story told by the two protagonists, so we see the story from the point of view of both Aurora and Trey. However, at the beginning it is a bit confusing to follow who is talking, and then, all of a sudden, Trey's voice is more eloquent than Aurora's voice. I would have loved to see more balance between the two points of view. I mean, the book starts focusing on Aurora and her painting, and then everything is centered on Trey and his music. Taking into account this book is the first in a series, we shouldn't be surprised to see some loose plot points, since I guess that the author will use them in the next books (or I really hope so). But I have to say that those plot points that are not going to be fully developed in the book shouldn't be given too much attention. In that case, they can mislead the reader, making us wait for them to be developed, or to see what happens next.

The characters are well developed but they don't grow. They are the same from the beginning to the end. A vampire who is an artist and a rock star who is not all ego are a very attractive couple, and a very original one. I liked that.

If you are looking for an original, entertaining, and different love story, choose this book and you won't be disappointed. I really loved reading this book, and I will also read the next book in the series.

I think Blood and Guitars is a great book for all ages. I for one think that whether your young or old, if your young at heart you'll enjoy the book!

YUMMY!! I love a book that makes me wish I could jump into the story and hang with the characters. Aurora has a cool vibe and more than just her low body temp. And Trey...well, Trey just sounds fab and dreamy. Both are mellow in how they handle their talent and abilities. I like how they find each other at the club. It's like every fan-girl's dream of having the rock star of their yen in need of rescue and being able to do so in a superb fashion with some HEA possible.

I've seen this book compared to the Twilight schtuff because of the vampire and the human diggin' each other....but I don't want to read any of the Twilight schtuff after the first one and I do want to read more of Aurora's and Trey's story. Heather, please say there's more!

Five please say there's more beans.....

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The characters were very likeable (people you'd be happy to know in real life) and the story was easy to get into. I laughed quite a bit, and even got teary-eyed twice! Really looking forward to the next in the series to find out what happens next. My 13 year old niece is getting a Kindle for Christmas this year, and I feel totally comfortable giving her this book. As another reviewer wrote: "...there is a huge shortage of good, clean romance for young readers, but this is a crowd pleaser for adults and teens."

Daraous

As soon as I started this book, I knew it would be great. The combination of Music and the undead is written very well and made me want more. Great book and great writing that attach you to the characters.

A captivating story of vampires and rock stars! Trey and Aurora are believable characters that you find yourself caring about - I think I'm actually a little bit in love with Trey myself!
There are fresh takes on vampires here. The way they exist, keep their identities hidden, and use their powers have all been dealt with originally. The characters and their backstories are strong, and so are the supporting characters - you'll love the rest of Trey's band!

I really enjoyed the double - perspective narrative, each chapter told from either Aurora or Trey's point of view. You get inside each character's head equally, which is very satisfying.

I'm looking forward to the second instalment - it's a promising series.
