Cell Phone is an engaging romance drama thriller by RR Dean. Michael Weaver has just left the Pentagon to join the top-secret security services company, Silikon Security, in Colorado. Soon after his arrival, his boss Alex Graf assigns him to the cell phone surveillance division in the team led by the beautiful Erin O'Brien from Birmingham, Alabama. Feeling a mutual connection, the two begin to bond over their shared love of football, Southern backgrounds, and Christian faith. It isn't long before Mike and Erin fall in love. However, the company's HR policy prohibits inter-office romantic relationships, so they keep theirs a secret and marry privately. But things get complicated when nefarious individuals threaten to end their lives to grab the cell phones they were working on. Now, the couple must find a way to protect themselves.

Cell Phone is a love story with a thrilling twist near the end. Author RR Dean takes a while to set up the characters and plot, but the narrative picks up the pace bit by bit the farther you go along in the story. This is primarily a character-driven tale, with Mike and Erin's love story at the center of the narrative. All the major scenes in the book feature the two together, and their palpable chemistry felt like one of the book's prime highlights for me. There's a tonal shift of the narrative toward the end as the plot turns into a neo-noir thriller. Overall, this book should be appreciated by romance lovers who also enjoy thrillers.
