Ezra Edmond's Cerberus the Tiger is a young adult sci-fi novel that follows the adventures of a young tiger named Cerberus. When Cerberus was just a "kidden," his father, Leonidas, inexplicably went missing during an experiment at the Animal Research Laboratory. Years later, his childhood friend, Ricky, found evidence that Leonidas might still be alive, leading Cerberus to embark on a daring quest in search of his father. Cerberus soon finds himself transported to a world full of mythical animals. However, after a two-headed monster kidnaps his newfound friends, Cerberus and a raccoon named Bernadina find themselves held in captivity by the tyrannical King Luridae. King Luridae seeks to conquer time itself, and Cerberus and his friends are the only ones standing in his way. Can Cerberus stop Luridae and return home with his father?
A coming-of-age tale full of action, mystery, and adventure, Cerberus the Tiger is a treat for young adult sci-fi lovers. Spinning a fast-paced yarn featuring animals as the main characters, Ezra Edmond delivers an entertaining tale that keeps you hooked all the way through to the end. The characters are compelling and immensely likable. Readers are going to love Cerberus and his friends. Even the secondary characters, such as Bernadina, Northsie, Leonidas, and Johnsto, have interesting story arcs. King Luridae and the two-headed beast are formidable adversaries who make you feel the stakes. The worldbuilding is simply phenomenal, making the narrative immersive and captivating. I found myself deeply invested in the lore behind the origin of King Luridae. All in all, it's a fantastic sci-fi adventure novel for young adults and even older readers. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and you should too!
