Author Biography

After a storied career spanning over twenty five years at some of the country’s most prestigious upscale eateries, Chef Sia Ayrom decided to pass the baton to the next generation.

Upon his retirement, he decided to pen his collective wisdom, acquired throughout these years, in a series of three cookbooks. These cookbooks represent Chef Ayrom’s philosophy of food as well as his commitment to elevating amateurs and home cooks to restaurant quality chefs.

Comfort Food Without Borders: From Appetizers to Pastas by Sia Ayrom is the first in a three-part series of cook books. Much like how a restaurant presents its meal courses, this first book is filled with appetizers, brunch, sandwiches and burgers, soups, salads, and dumplings, noodles, and pastas, while the second will be dedicated to main courses and the third will be on desserts. In the beginning, we are introduced to Chef Sia Ayrom and his background of cooking. Then we continue into the amazing recipes that this retired chef has put together throughout his incredible 25-year career. Each recipe begins with a short introduction, followed by the serving amount and the ingredients; it then concludes with a helpful, detailed explanation of the directions. Ayrom has shown his talent as a chef by including his own unique recipes and his creative adaptations of common recipes that we know and love.

When I received Sia Ayrom’s Comfort Food Without Borders, I immediately sat down and began to read through this wonderful cook book. I really enjoyed every single part of it. I loved reading the brief introductions to each recipe. It gave me some background information on not only the chef himself but also the delicious food that I am about to cook. The thorough directions are also very helpful to someone like me who needs all the help I can get when it comes to cooking. The only wish I have for this book is that it would have a table of contents or index so that I could easily find recipes and that it would have colored pictures for most if not all the recipes so that I could see what each dish is supposed to look like. Other than that, I am so glad I own this cook book now. I will be happily cooking many of these dishes for my family. I will also be sure to look out for the next two books in the series so that I can create a delicious three-course meal. This cook book is very well-written and clearly shows that this chef has a passion for food, which can easily be passed on to his readers through these scrumptious recipes.
