Duck and his friends are invited to attend Bigfoot’s birthday party. After the problems with leaving the cows in charge of the farm, Duck decides to let the alpacas with the odd haircuts watch over it until he returns. The alpacas decide to go on a hair-cutting spree in Duck's absence. They cut what is left of their hair, then choose to trim the cows. Frightened by the alpacas with the hair trimmers, the cows run away from the farm and into the city. Upon returning to the farm, the alpacas feel cold without their hair and decide to go inside Duck’s farmhouse. Did the alpacas find the cows, or did they go home? Should the cold alpacas be in Duck’s house? Will they leave a huge mess behind for Duck to clean up? Find out in Duck and Friends: Bigfoot’s Birthday written by Donna McFarland and illustrated by Gayatri Ray.

Duck and Friends: Bigfoot’s Birthday by Donna McFarland is a fun tale about a duck who owns a farm and is invited to Bigfoot’s birthday party. I love how the characters display a mixture of responsible and irresponsible behavior that kids can easily relate to. The illustrations by Gayatri Ray make the events and behavior of the mischievous animals come to life in colorful pictures. I recommend this fun-filled story as the animals create a new problem after trying to solve the one before. It is sure to tickle the funny bone of any child as they read about the shenanigans of the farm animals. This story could quickly become a book that kids want to read repeatedly.
