Jennifer Hodge Fahie's Essence of Life is a collection of beautiful poems about everyday struggles. People have a tendency to lose touch with their core human values in the relentless pursuit of progress. Learn everything you can and make sure you don't go down the wrong path, as life can throw curveballs at you at any time. If you're weighed down by circumstances and feeling helpless, offer a prayer to God, and He will show you the way. Even before He took the fall for humanity's sins, the signs were always there that a savior would arise. Be ready to face the consequences too if you're always driven by hate and take pleasure in hurting others. A woman reminisces about the precious moments she spent with her husband before he went to serve in the military.
Jennifer Hodge Fahie's poetry evokes a range of emotions in the reader. I like the fact that the author chose to speak about the everyday challenges of life through her poems. It's something that will resonate with all readers. Thematically, the book touches on a variety of topics, including love, faith, discrimination, identity, and more. There's something grounded and soothing about Fahie's verses that connects to your soul. She doesn't overcomplicate her rhymes or verse structures, and this simplicity adds to the beauty of her poems. Personally, the poems about faith were my favorites. Essence of Life acknowledges life's harsh realities while offering hope through faith in God. All in all, the book was a breeze to read for me. It will make you feel more optimistic about the future. Highly recommended.
