Marisa’s grandpa gave her a fishing rod for Christmas. This was a special gift from a special person. In Marisa’s First Fishing Trip, Dawn Doig shares the story of the memorable trip connected with the fishing rod. However, Marisa’s parents and grandparents have more to add to the special Christmas gift. Marisa has the remarkable adventure of flying down the coast to visit her grandparents. She took her fishing rod on the trip with her. After her grandparents pick Marisa up at the airport, Grandpa and Marisa plan their special day of fishing. Not only is this Marisa’s first time fishing, but she spends the time with her grandpa. Marisa catches three things. Can you guess what she catches and what they do with the catch?

Fishing teaches patience. It is rare that one drops a hook into the water and immediately pulls out a fish. Marisa learns this on her first fishing trip with her grandpa. Dawn Doig explains to readers of Marisa’s First Fishing Trip how special time fishing with a grandparent can be. Grandpa and Marisa spent the day together fishing. Even under the expert guidance of Grandpa, waiting for a fish to bite is not easy. However, Grandpa wants to ensure his time with his granddaughter is special. He buys chips, a soft drink, and a piece of candy to help pass the time. When Marisa finally catches her first fish, she does a surprising thing. Read this book and find out what happened to Marisa’s first catch. This is a fun book to read to and with your children. It helps teach the importance of family, patience, and kindness. Spend time teaching your children these three things, and you will be greatly rewarded when they grow up.
