Concussion recovery is not always a straightforward process. Colette Struthers is a clinician and Reiki practitioner. She has played soccer for over 40 years, accumulating several head injuries over that period. She had to undergo HEVMT treatment for her recovery, which includes visual, vestibular, and musculoskeletal system healing. Her friend Karen underwent CBT after an accident in school. In Pickleball Saved My Life, Struthers delves into the recovery difference between female and male brains. According to the author, there is a testosterone bias in brain injury research. This book demonstrates the neurological and physical benefits of pickleball and how it enhances hand-eye coordination, vestibular rehab, cognitive multitasking bootcamp, mood boosting, social connection, balance, core strength, bilateral brain stimulation and movement, strategic thinking, and much more.

Pickleball Saved My Life is a part memoir, part holistic guide to healing from concussion and concussion-related symptoms. In this book, author Colette Struthers draws on her own experiences with post-concussion issues and recounts how she found pickleball to be her saving grace during her recovery process. I like how the book is not your typical self-help health guide. Struthers' story will resonate with anyone who has had to recover from sports-related injuries, especially post-concussion symptoms. The book is engaging and informative, and the author makes sure it's accessible to all readers. Personally, I could relate to Struthers' story as I had to do rehab for almost a year after surgery for a gym-related back injury. I recommend this book to all those who have suffered concussions or faced post-concussion symptoms in their lives.
