Poetic Mind 2 is a book of poetry by John Nevel. These poems explore various aspects of life. Shades of good and evil in society are highlighted through different colors. In one of the poems, the narrator reminisces about their loved ones. Another one emphasizes the importance of self-love and encourages readers to embrace it so they can enjoy life to the fullest. An inspiring poem focuses on self-belief and illustrates its significance in making the world a better place. The narrator also advocates love for all, regardless of superficial differences. They share their experiences of trauma and PTSD with a poignant poem. One of the best poems in this collection highlights the monotony of everyday life.
Poetic Mind 2 contains 50 poems, each focusing on the different shades of life. John Nevel is a fantastic storyteller, and it's his poetic storytelling that turned this collection into one of the best poetry books I've read all year. The author uses free verse poetry to paint a rich and colorful tapestry of life in this book. One of the other things I liked very much is that the themes are so universally relatable, yet the poems also feel very intimate because Nevel draws a lot from his own life experiences and pours it all into his poems. His poetry feels both observational and confessional. I enjoyed all the poems, but "Dog-Tired" really resonated with me, and it was probably my favorite in the entire collection. Definitely read this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
