There’s nothing quite like the food of a specific country to teach and inspire you to learn more about the place. In Kisha Bennett’s Solo Sazón, the author combines a passion for Argentinian food and culinary traditions to inspire single moms to enjoy the authentic flavors of this South American country. From the Asado ritual, considered a Holy Grail of meat, which is a communal experience as various meats are cooked to perfect over a slow grill, to the Italian and Spanish influences of pastas and pizzas, and beyond to the grains of the indigenous peoples and sweet treats to round off a good meal, there is much to be learned and enjoyed with Argentinian food.

Kisha Bennett’s Solo Sazón: 50 Traditional Recipes for Single Moms is a great way to experiment and enjoy the traditional dishes from this southern part of the world. The book focuses primarily on main dishes: meats, seafoods and grains, with an added section at the end of various drinks to enjoy with the prepared dishes. The recipes are well-organized and easy to follow and are accompanied by mouth-watering photographs. The last half of the book is a bonus section that is intended to help you organize your kitchen, your budget, and your eating experiences. This section includes blank pages to fill in with various notations on your kitchen inventory and budget, a weekly planner, a record of your cooking adventures, and even a section to add your own recipes and additional notes. This is a great addition to anyone’s cookbook library – not just single moms!

Argentina is a country rich in culture and traditions. This leads to a variety of dishes, especially because some of its culinary influences come from Italy and Spain. Solo Sazón: 50 Traditional Recipes for Single Moms gives us a taste of the most iconic and easy-to-prepare dishes. Kisha Bennett shares different recipes, from classic roasts to comforting stews and delicious empanadas. Her culinary proposals are ideal and practical for maintaining a balanced diet with a special flavor. There is a section that explains how to choose the right wine and also provides options for preparing refreshing drinks. All this contributes to a balanced and flavorful culinary experience, reflecting the love and dedication that a mother puts into every dish she prepares.

I loved Solo Sazón: 50 Traditional Recipes for Single Moms for its versatility. The recipes usually require few ingredients and have instructions of about six steps. The dishes are all different. You can feel Kisha Bennett's love of cooking through her attention to detail and her clear and precise instructions. The content is well-structured and beautifully presented. The photographs are brilliant, and the details of each dish are appreciated. At the end, Kisha shares several formats that are quite useful. These allow you to add your own recipes, making for a more personalized cookbook. It also includes a weekly meal planner, among other equally useful interactive sections. Solo Sazón is ideal for creating a new menu, surprising the family, and enjoying special moments together around the table.

Although primarily targeted at single moms, Solo Sazón: 50 Traditional Recipes for Single Moms is a cookbook for all food enthusiasts who love South American cuisine. As someone with little to no prior knowledge about Argentinian food, I found this book delightful, and I am looking forward to trying out some of these recipes as soon as possible. With keen attention to even minute details, Kisha Bennett provides clear-cut instructions about the cooking process while describing the ingredients in vivid detail. Aside from the recipes, the book also offers bonus content that includes an inventory tracker, a budget tracker, a weekly meal planner, and a diary to record your cooking adventures, add your recipes, make notes for improvement, etc. This book has certainly piqued my curiosity about Argentinian and South American cuisine in general. I heartily recommend it to all food lovers.

I love this cookbook. It is very nicely illustrated with very yummy looking meals. I like how the whole book has been designed. At the beginning there is a short presentation of the Argentinean culinary and their main dishes, and then it goes straight to the recipes with nice pictures that makes you want to try to cook them. I didn't know that Italian and Spanish cuisine influenced Argentinean culinary. I had no idea that the tortilla de patatas is also being made in Argentina, not just in Spain. At the end of the book there are organised empty spaces for you to add notes, your recipes, inventories, weekly meal plans. It is a great cookbook.
