Adults understand the importance of addressing global warming and its environmental impact, and Space Polar Bear by Bruna Mars effectively highlights this critical topic for young readers. The book begins with a moving journey in the frozen tundra of the Arctic, where a group of polar bears witnesses the distressing changes in their habitat. The ice is thinning, and there are fewer seals for food. These problems are causing them distress and anxiety about their future. With the guidance of a wise old polar bear, they realize that their home may not withstand the environmental changes it faces. They must find a way to survive and grow. Together, they work to build a spaceship to escape to a Mythical Realm untouched by the world. As they journey out in space, they miss their home but know they are together as a family, and that is most important.

I adored Space Polar Bear and the valuable lessons it imparts to children. The illustrations beautifully portray the polar bears and their vibrant world. Children, particularly those between three and ten, will be captivated by this story. Bruna Mars effectively explains the impact of global warming on the earth and its animals in a way that children can understand. The polar bears' struggle to find food and their collaborative effort to build a spaceship for a Celestial Sanctuary are heartwarming and thought-provoking. All home and school libraries should have this book on their shelves. The book effectively communicates the urgency of this topic to a younger audience, which is just one reason it deserves five stars.
