With over twenty-five years of experience teaching special ed, Jody Sharpe shares her story of working with special needs children and the angels who helped her along the way. This moving memoir, Special Needs Children: The Angels On My Shoulder, follows Jody's teaching journey as she learned to guide young kids with disabilities and found her purpose in life. Raised in a dysfunctional family, Jody was inspired by the life of Dale Evans, a television personality and cowgirl, who wrote the book Angel Unaware. Over the decades, she became a teacher in special schools for children in multiple states across America. While she suffered heartbreak through a divorce and the loss of her eldest daughter, she made some unforgettable friends with students and colleagues, as well as experiencing a life-changing encounter with an angel in Houston.
Special Needs Children: The Angels On My Shoulder is a short yet emotionally powerful memoir. This heartwarming book shows how teaching touches the lives of so many people -- including the teacher -- and has the power to make the world a better place to live. Jody Sharpe recounts all the momentous events of her teaching career. She shares a few insightful nuggets of wisdom she gained through her decades of experience working with special needs children who brought so much joy and meaning to her life. I think teachers and parents with special needs children will find a lot to love and learn from in this inspirational memoir. I am very grateful to have read it and highly recommend it to readers who enjoy illuminating real-life stories.
