The Complete Revision Workbook for Writers: Tools for a Polished Novel by Arielle Haughee is indeed a comprehensive work including sections on revisions of course, but also on mindset and motivation (as most writers are not fascinated by revisions, at least I know I am not when I write fiction, I’d rather focus on the creative process), on revision timeline, and goals. It also includes story ingredients (what every novel needs) and how to get started, characterization, plotline, point of view, adding conflict, and so on. It is (let’s not be shy) a must-have if you want to revise your novel!
The Complete Revision Workbook for Writers by Arielle Haughee grabbed my attention from the start. Writing is quite a solitary activity and revising can be boring: this book makes it much more bearable and even fun. You get to revise your work, to edit contents but also to check out information about the genre of your novel (a whole section tells us about fantasy, sci-fi, romance, historical fiction). The whole book is simple to use and clear. For instance, we are given problem descriptions and solution ideas. To top it all, the author has kindly included beta reader guide sheets which are extremely useful, especially when you teach American literature like me. A must-read for any future writer or experienced author who wants to make sure they have not forgotten to revise any element of their story! Thank you so much for this amazing and truly engaging work!
