In The Promise of the Copper Scroll by Alan Moss, it's the year 2019. When Professor Sam Wadsworth of Princeton University gets his hands on one of the ancient Dead Sea Scrolls, he correctly surmises that it holds the key to finding hidden ancient treasure from 70 AD. But after he is tortured and beheaded by Iranian terrorists, it falls upon Nancy Troll, an aspiring journalist and senior at Drexel University, to follow the clues and shed light on the story. However, soon the terrorists kill Nancy's parents. Meanwhile, Carol Stark, Wadsworth's assistant, whose husband is deep in gambling debt, hatches her own plan to benefit from the second scroll. Now, with the FBI Regional Director Joan MacLennan on the case, can they defeat the terrorists and put the scroll where it belongs?

The Promise of the Copper Scroll is an action-packed thriller by Alan Moss. A potent brew of mystery, action, romance, and intrigue makes this a real treat for fans of the genre. The book is very well-paced as the author packs a lot into the story and weaves an intricate plot covering multiple factions, all vying for the same end goal. The gripping multi-POV narrative switches timelines and showcases all the key players involved in the tale. The characters are well-developed and very believable in their motivations. I particularly enjoyed the love story between Nancy and Josh. The mystery behind the copper scroll is unfolded one bit at a time, and it was another one of the book's highlights for me. If you love reading action-packed mystery thrillers, waste no time and grab a copy!
