The Rooster Rider by Sean Valdrow is 'A Knightly Adventure Among the Small Creatures.' Sir Thomas of Barley Mill Cross has just been knighted, and he decides to prove his mettle by challenging a witch on his warhorse Rooster. It was a reckless challenge, and the witch used black magic to shrink Sir Thomas to doll size and turn his horse into a rooster. Now they have another battle to fight – to save the small creatures from the mighty weasel clans. All Rooster and Thomas want is to return to their own world and their proper sizes but Thomas is a knight who swore an oath to protect those who need him. Can Thomas and Rooster beat the weasels? They are on a time limit – it must be done before the witch is executed, or the spells binding them cannot be undone.
The Rooster Rider by Sean Valdrow is a children's fantasy, and what a story! The author has a vivid imagination, making you feel like you are there, fighting the battles for the small animals. This is a wonderful tale that isn’t just fun to read. It also teaches kids that one good, loyal friend is worth any number of so-called friends and teaches them to overcome obstacles to achieve their aims. It also shows them they can face up to bullies, not run from them. This tale of strength and loyalty has everything needed to make it one of the most enjoyable stories any child will read. It has action on every page, a cast of wonderful characters – they may be animals, but they possess incredibly human-like qualities – and it’s a story that will allow their imaginations to run riot. And it’s not just for young readers, either. I guarantee this story will be a huge hit with adults, too!
