A graduation trip to New Orleans for Bailey and Zoe turns into a disaster for heroine Bailey in this novel. After a long night of partying, Bailey becomes suspicious about the staff at her hotel when no one answers the telephone for room service. Suffering a serious hangover, Bailey goes to the lobby, only to realize that a viral epidemic has taken over and a major side effect is violent behavior and zombie like behavior. N.D. Iverson does a great job of pulling the reader into This Would be Paradise. This book is full of blood and gore, yet you can’t help but love all the fast paced excitement. After they realize they are under attack, Bailey gathers together a team of uninfected people and everyone hunts for supplies before they take refuge from the zombies.
The twists and turns of This Would be Paradise by N.D. Iverson drew me in from chapter one. Bailey being such a strong character made the storyline that much more interesting, because she was determined to live and not be infected by the zombies. Throughout the entire novel, Bailey was looking for ways to stay alive while in the back of her mind wondering if she was infected by the scratches she obtained in the hotel cafeteria. The eagerness of 9-year-old Chloe gave the story a spin as she proved to be an asset because of her knowledge about zombies. This novel is easy to read and very entertaining.
