Author Biography

I am The Black & White Capitol Knight, though you can call me J.A. KAMPTON. I am a patriotic old-fashioned knight at heart with a penchant for learning and trying new things, wielding my imagination like a sword and my humor as a shield against the fiery darts of everyday life. I enjoy mixing music, humor, and the written word.

Before I was The B&W Capitol Knight, I was a mysterious Black Knight of the page variety, attending to my daily studies in school with honors. With my curious mind, I strategically graduated early from high school and then from college as well, with a B.S. degree in Human Resource Management. After graduating, I worked as an everyday White Knight, where I came to the aid of countless customers and clients. I worked in: landscaping in my community, customer service at Verizon, public service at an Assessor’s Office, teaching in public schools, logistics at Walmart and Amazon – but who hasn’t worked there! – and in tax accounting and human resources in a small business.

Drawing on my diverse education and experience as both the Black Knight and the White Knight, I turned to writing stories. Following the advice of my former High School Teacher Miss Kendrick, and College Professor Cook, I decided to finally put my ideas to the paper – or I should say, computer screen – to become an author, in hopes of bringing my dreams to life.

J.A. Kampton’s We Are Legion: One Supernatural Day in Thacker Pass brings the long-running series to an ambitious close, blending science fiction, fantasy, satire, and pop culture into a single narrative. As the concluding volume, it assumes familiarity with the characters yet still maintains momentum. The story is told through multiple character perspectives, a structural choice that reinforces its ensemble nature. Kampton leans into this rotating viewpoint with enthusiasm, keeping the action moving as the plot barrels toward its climactic confrontation. Kampton’s prose embraces exaggeration and parody, layering references to films, games, music, and mythology in ways that feel deliberately over-the-top. The writing often reads like an action sequence narrated by someone fully aware of its own absurdity, creating a self-aware tone without becoming detached from the narrative.

J.A. Kampton’s world-building favors accumulation over restraint, piling on ideas quickly and trusting readers to keep up. His willingness to blend genres without hesitation makes the story fast-paced and engaging. Moments of humor sit alongside battle scenes, philosophical reflection alongside pop references, and supernatural elements alongside speculative science. This hybrid style gives the novel its distinct identity. Kampton’s writing is reminiscent of a mash-up of Douglas Adams’ playful, genre-bending style, Ernest Cline’s pop-culture enthusiasm, and the ensemble, action-driven energy of a Marvel crossover. We Are Legion is a fitting conclusion to a series that thrives on imagination and momentum. It delivers a crowded, energetic finale that underscores the characters' journey while embracing the wild, inventive spirit that defines Kampton’s storytelling. Fans of science fiction–fantasy hybrids, especially those who enjoy supernatural action, pop-culture satire, ensemble casts, and high-stakes, end-of-the-world storytelling, will undoubtedly find much to enjoy here.
