Z is for Zapatazo by Ruben Rivera tells tales of adventure, love, loss, faith, and relationships. The author gives the reader time and space to reflect on the importance of each moment in life, no matter how small, that can hold immense meaning and can be life-changing. The gentle flow of words reveals the soul of the author and honors the authentic expression of not only his life experiences but also the impact people, places, and events had on his life. Stories of the author’s childhood and other life experiences are told with care and emotional candor, drawing the reader in and allowing them to see life from a broader, more honest perspective. The themes of family, friends, and meaningful moments - large and small - make this book heart-warming and enjoyable.

Z is for Zapatazo by Ruben Rivera is truly a delight. Each individual work he presents in the form of free-flowing poetry, short memoirs, and candid recollections is unique and relatable. From the beautiful dedication to his wife at the beginning, all the way through to the end, each word he writes comes from a heart of gold. His skill with descriptions and capturing the emotions of the reader with his words is excellent. I appreciate the way the author focuses on all the moments, memories, and lessons in life that might otherwise be overlooked, pushed aside, or belittled in our busy world. He celebrates more than just life. He celebrates truly living and does so with kindness and deep, sincere reflection.
