Working in the kitchen can be so much fun, especially for children. It’s a great way to bond, adult and child, but also a great way to teach the basics of cooking and baking as well as the importance of eating well. But, eating healthily doesn’t have to be dreary. One can always have room for some sweet treats. Made with wholesome ingredients, even the sweets can be healthy. Learning how to cook and bake doesn’t have to be difficult. Armed with a well-presented cookbook that logically lists all the ingredients, outlines in a simple and concise manner all the procedures, and provides useful illustrations to help explain and document the process, cooking and baking are easy enough to master. Not to mention the fun factor.
Chef Leszek Zajac’s family cookbook, 21 Fun Recipes, is more than just a cookbook for children; it’s a family cookbook full of simple, easy to read instructions, fun guides, colorful illustrations and so much more. The recipes are organized into three sections: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, and, finally, the best part, Sweets. The beginning of each section lists the recipes in groups, combining foods that serve well together, like pancakes and home-made cheese for breakfast. Following the food list is a note page where the young cook can jot down notes of what they like, how things turned out, or even add some recipes of their own. The recipes are clearly and concisely presented, beginning with the list of ingredients and followed by a step-by-step procedure. A chart of illustrations helps depict what is required with each step in the procedure. This is a great resource for young cooks in the kitchen and will hopefully encourage more young people to have fun with food preparation.
