Kendra Kandlestar and the Door to Unger is the second book in the series by Lee Edward Fodi. Kendra is back and ready to take on adventure once again as a call for help comes from a seemingly unlikely source. Things in the land of Een are changing fast and it just might be as dangerous for Kendra and her friends to stay as it is for them to leave. The monsters hiding outside their door just might be different than they’ve always imagined and it might be possible to find Kendra and Gregor’s long-lost family hiding out there somewhere. They all think it’s worth the risk.
I have to say Kendra is back and better than ever in this book. She’s gotten a little stronger and a little more comfortable with what she’s capable of. She’s not one to sit idly by while something wrong is happening, no matter who it might be happening to, and that’s what makes her such a great character. I have to say I was very interested in what she was going to do next and I couldn’t help but wonder how she was going to rescue her friends and family from danger yet again. It’s easy to feel a kinship with Kendra because of the way that she reacts to protect others and to do what’s best, even if it isn’t easy. I have to say though that Oki is one of my favorites, too, because he’s just so frightened of everything and yet he’s able to do so much. Kendra Kandlestar and the Door to Unger was definitely a good continuation of this series.
