The Rule of Three by Jennifer Granville is a heartwarming, humorous tale of betrayal and revenge. Julia Bennett has discovered her husband’s affair. They’ve been married for 25 years, and he’s decided it’s time for a younger model. What’s a girl to do? Discover herself, of course, and what better way to do it than follow the rule of three—three flings with different men to find out what she truly wants before she decides whether or not to give up on her marriage. But what Julia is about to discover might make her think twice about going back. Sometimes, it takes a shock and a change to shake someone up, and she may be about to learn what she’s been missing out on all these years.
Jennifer Granville’s The Rule of Three is such a fun read and an incredibly engaging one, too. It’s the perfect book for anyone stuck in a dead-end relationship or who feels like their true identity has disappeared without them even realizing it. This is written with open honesty and courage, and it unveils vulnerability, heartbreak, and enlightenment. As a non-fiction memoir, the characters are real people with real lives, so they're easy to relate to, and they’ll make you take a long, hard look at your own life. The pacing is steady as the story moves between the past and the present, giving readers the whole picture but not all at once. It’s quite an emotional story, but it has plenty of humor, and it will make you laugh and cry at times. I loved the style of writing; it drew me in and held my attention all the way through, and it made for a wholly captivating read. I enjoyed this, and I recommend it to anyone who’s trying to find out who they really are and what they want from life.
