Author Biography

P. ANASTASIA’S fresh take on storytelling resonates with darkness, charm, and passion—the embodiment of her unique writing style. Ensnared by the craft in childhood, she attempted her first book at age eleven. While working toward her college degree, she wrote news and editorial columns for two campus newspapers. After graduating with a degree in communications and spending a year studying abroad in Kofu, Japan, she followed her heart to her publishing aspirations. On the side, she serves as a professional voice talent for radio, television, and audio books. P. Anastasia is the author of eight novels: the Fluorescence series, Fates Aflame, and the historical-paranormal romance, Dark Diary.

Gearing up to have new experiences can be difficult, both for children and adults, because it takes us out of our comfort zone. If we empower ourselves with courage, we will find a whole new world full of possibilities that will brighten our days. The first thing we should do is start some new activity, but if we don't know how we should just follow our hearts. The pathways of life can follow different directions and that is why they are interesting. A Spot of New is a book dedicated to encouraging children to gain that strength and discover how bravery and friendship open up so many enjoyable and interesting opportunities in their lives. P. Anastasia uses warm and kindly characters to teach this lesson. Having new experiences and getting out of routines will promote happiness.

I loved the selection of colors and tones. The drawings show many activities and are pleasing. I enjoyed how P. Anastasia handles the theme of friendship and companionship. The characters are amiable and take care of each other, sending an important message to young readers. In addition, P. Anastasia motivates children to socialize and this will stimulate them to want to learn new things. A Spot of New is perfect for children to learn to live with others and see that curiosity can be a great advantage that will inspire them to express themselves freely and to be themselves.
